The kind of cookie used to store session information on the client-side.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Persistent

A persistent session cookie.

The cookie will be stored on the client’s device with an expiration date set by the server via the Max-Age attribute.

This is the default.

§

Session

A cookie that expires when the browser session ends.

Each browser has its own concept of “browser session”, e.g. the session doesn’t necessarily end when the browser window or tab is closed. For example, both Firefox and Chrome automatically restore the session when the browser is restarted, keeping all session cookies alive. Consider using SessionCookieKind::Persistent if you don’t want to deal with the nuances of browser-specific behaviour.
